Abraham as our father in faith

Abram is often referred to as our father in faith. He wasn’t “saved” by good works or by keeping the Old Testament Law, but by trusting the words of God.

Genesis 15:6. He believed in the LORD, who credited it to him for righteousness.

Romans 4:16. For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace, to the end that the promise may be sure to all the offspring, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.

Galatians 3:6. Even as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.”

Hebrews 11:8. By faith, Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he went.
