SUMMARY

Title

The book is named for Baruch.

Author

Baruch was the secretary and friend of Jeremiah.

Date

Historical timeframe: roughly the same as Jeremiah. Jeremiah’s ministry began in about 627 BC, and lasted until at least 586 BC.

Written: the second century BC.

The four centuries between the historical timeframe and when the book was written suggest the author is not actually Baruch.

Note: Catholic Bibles have 6 chapters. Orthodox Bibles have 5 chapters.
