Choosing a Lie instead of the Truth

In our day, many people, including some Christians want a lie instead of the truth. They reject everything associated with truth, such as facts and evidence, expertise and science.

Isaiah 8:12. Don’t call everything a conspiracy, like they do, and don’t live in dread of what frightens them. (NLT translation)

Hosea 7:3. They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.

Nahum 3:1. Woe to the bloody city! It is all full of lies and robbery—no end to the prey.

Romans 1:25. who exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

2 Thessalonians 2:11. Because of this, God sends them a working of error, that they should believe a lie;

2 Timothy 4:4. and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn away to fables.

Out in the desert, Joshua and Caleb reported the truth about the Promised Land. But the other ten spies reported lies. The people embraced the lies, and then turned against Joshua and Caleb:

Numbers 14:10. But all the congregation threatened to stone them with stones. The LORD’s glory appeared in the Tent of Meeting to all the children of Israel.
