How, then shall I pray? – a Haiku poem

I wrote this Haiku poem after an intense session of Contemplative Prayer.

How, then shall I pray?

John of the Cross recommends

Simple loving attention

No word on the lips

No meditation to do

Start with sitting still

Thérèse of Lisieux

Said “Love is my vocation”

Love can be a prayer

An hour with God

Love’s fire burning within

My heart beats for him

Tools of Christian prayer

Faith, and hope and charity

Are simple but strong

Faith: the intellect

Hope: purifies memory

Charity: the will

These things I desire

Compassion for all people

More humility
