Jesus calls his disciples to radical minimalism

The Lord Jesus Christ sent the Twelve on a mission. And later he sent the Seventy. He required radical minimalism.

For their missionary journey, the Twelve were only permitted to take the clothes on their backs.

Matthew 10:10. Take no bag for your journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, nor staff: for the laborer is worthy of his food.

Mark 6:8. He commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, except a staff only: no bread, no wallet, no money in their purse,

Luke 9:3. He said to them, “Take nothing for your journey—no staffs, nor wallet, nor bread, nor money. Don’t have two coats each.

For their missionary journey, the Seventy were only permitted to take the clothes on their backs.

Luke 10:4. Carry no purse, nor wallet, nor sandals. Greet no one on the way.
