Jesus My Love – a Haiku poem

I wrote this Haiku poem after an intense session of Contemplative Prayer.

PART 1

Waiting for your spouse

away on a business trip

How long has it been?

Longing for your spouse

A romantic night in store

You burn with desire

Your spouse longs for you

Urgently wants your passion

Tonight you’ll be one

Your hearts beat as one

You find the bedroom chamber

The fire roars within

No inhibitions

Self-giving love takes over

Joys beyond telling

Exhausted, you rest

Wrapped in your spouse’s embrace

It was worth the wait

PART 2

Waiting for your Lord,

away tending the whole world

How long has it been?

Waiting for the Lord

Sitting still, longing for him

You burn with desire

Your God longs for you

Urgently wants your passion

Tonight you’ll be one

Your hearts beat as one

You find his inner chamber

The fire roars within

No inhibitions

Self-giving love takes over

Joys beyond telling

Exhausted, you rest

Wrapped in your lover’s embrace

It was worth the wait
