Marengo, Illinois – a Haiku poem
I wrote this Haiku poem after a mystical experience whilst driving my car.
Driving through the town
Singing songs of praise to God
Tired from the day
Then He surprised me
Suddenly without warning
A caress from God
‘Twas thick as honey
and like electricity
Tingled everywhere
Sparkling within
My burdens all slipped away
I felt love and joy
A barbecue fire
He put right inside my heart
Its coals kept glowing
He’s blessed me this way
Many times in the years past
Blessings that don’t stop
I planned to forget
Put it right out of my thoughts
Like the mystics say
This time was diff’rent
He seemed to say “Tell others”
“Write some Haiku”
