Seasoned with Salt

In ancient times, the spiritual offerings of God’s people were to be seasoned with salt. In our day, our conversations are to be seasoned with salt.

INTRODUCTION

In ancient times, salt was important. The spiritual offerings of God‘s people in the temple were to be seasoned with salt.

Leviticus 2:13. Every offering of your meal offering you shall season with salt. You shall not allow the salt of the covenant of your God to be lacking from your meal offering. With all your offerings you shall offer salt.

In our day, our conversations are a spiritual sacrifice. They should be salted with the truth of Jesus Christ.

Indeed, we are to be the salt that seasons the whole world.

Matthew 5:13. You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.

We interpret this as a call to be perpetually ministering the Lord Jesus to other people, especially through the five key ministries:

THE FIVE KEY MINISTRIES

Evangelism

Evangelism is the act of sharing the message of Jesus Christ with a non-Christian. It is also called witnessing.

Discipleship

To be a disciple means being a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ.

Apologetics

Apologetics means to have a respectful discussion about Jesus Christ with somebody who disagrees.

Ecumenism

Ecumenism means interacting with Christians from other denominations. Ecumenism builds unity.

Interfaith Dialogue

Interfaith dialogue means interacting with people from other world religions. Interfaith dialogue builds understanding and acceptance.

Indeed we Christians are to be seasoned with salt. We are to keep our saltiness.

St. Paul writes:

Colossians 4:6. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
