The Lord Jesus and Rich People

Many Christians think riches are a sign of God’s blessing. They view billionaires as their heroes. However, the Lord Jesus does NOT view rich people as heroes.

INTRODUCTION

Many Christians think riches are a sign of God’s blessing. They view billionaires as their heroes.

Those Christians are quick to explain away the Bible verses that disagree with their own viewpoint:

  • “Isn’t Jesus speaking of people who are spiritually rich? That could be anyone, right?”
  • “Isn’t Jesus is speaking of people who do not realize their spiritual poverty? That too could be anyone, right?”

However, the verses are speaking of economic wealth, not spiritual wealth.
