Three returns from Babylon
In 587 BC, Nebuchadnezzar conquered Jerusalem. He deported the tribe of Judah to Babylon. Later, on three separate occasions, some are permitted to return.

Nebuchadnezzar II
He was the king of the Babylonian Empire.
He conquered Judah and brought the people as exiles to Babylon.
He reigned from 605 to circa 562 BC.
Amel-Marduk
He was the son of Nebuchadnezzar II and the king of the Babylonian Empire.
He reigned from circa 562 to 560 BC.
Neriglissar
He was the son of Amel-Marduk and the king of the Babylonian Empire.
He reigned from 560 to 556 BC.
Labashi-Marduk
He was the son of Neriglissar and the king of the Babylonian Empire.
He reigned for a few months in 556 BC.
Nabonidus
He was the son of Labashi-Marduk and the king of the Babylonian Empire. He reigned from 556 to 539 BC.
THE PERSIAN EMPIRE
550 BC to 330 BC
Cyrus the Great
He founded the Persian Empire. He was also called the King of Kings.
He conquered Babylon in 539 BC.
He reigned from 559–530 BC.
Cambyses II
He was the son of Cyrus the Great and the king of the Persian Empire.
He reigned from 530 to 522 BC.
Bardiya
He was the son of Cambyses II and the king of the Persian Empire.
He reigned for a few months in 522 BC.
Darius the Great
He overthrew Bardiya and thereby became the king of the Persian Empire.
He reigned from 522 to 486 BC.
Xerxes I
He was commonly referred to as Xerxes the Great.
He was the son of Darius the Great and the king of the Persian Empire.
He reigned from 486 to 465 BC.
Artaxerxes I
He was the son of Xerxes I and the king of the Persian Empire.
He reigned from 465 to 424 BC.
THE FIRST RETURN
During the reign of Cyrus the Great, king of the Persian Empire
In 538 BC, Zerubbabel returned to rebuild the temple.
