Where is God’s house?

In the Old Testament era, the temple in Jerusalem was the House of God. But in our New Testament era, the LORD God dwells within his people.

 


 

Psalm 48:9. Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing love. (NIV translation)

Isaiah 45:14. The LORD says: “The labor of Egypt, and the merchandise of Ethiopia, and the Sabeans, men of stature, will come over to you, and they will be yours. They will go after you. They shall come over in chains. They will bow down to you. They will make supplication to you: ‘Surely God is in you; and there is no one else. There is no other god.

Acts 7:48. However, the Most High doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says,

Acts 17:24. The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands.

1 Corinthians 3:9. For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s farming, God’s building.

1 Corinthians 3:16. Don’t you know that you are a temple of God, and that God’s Spirit lives in you?

2 Corinthians 5:1. For we know that if the earthly house of our tent is dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal, in the heavens.

Philippians 2:13. For it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure.

1 Timothy 3:15. but if I wait long, that you may know how men ought to behave themselves in God’s house, which is the assembly of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

Hebrews 3:6. but Christ is faithful as a Son over his house. We are his house, if we hold fast our confidence and the glorying of our hope firm to the end.

Hebrews 10:21. and having a great priest over God’s house,

1 Peter 2:5. You also, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 4:17. For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God. If it begins first with us, what will happen to those who don’t obey the Good News of God?
