You didn’t choose me; I chose you
In ancient days, it was common for a disciple to pick a teacher. But the Lord Jesus turned that around. Instead of his disciples choosing him, he chose them!
Deuteronomy 7:8. but because the LORD loves you, and because he desires to keep the oath which he swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
John 6:70. Jesus answered them, “Didn’t I choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?”
John 13:18. I don’t speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen. But that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.’
