After a dozen years, we’ve barely gotten started!

When Explore the Faith began in 2009, I had three dreams. Now a dozen years later, those dreams have been fulfilled. Yet we have hardly begun!

A DOZEN YEARS AGO

In 2009, I thought and prayed about building a website.

Then in July 2009, I took action. I paid for a domain name. And I paid for hosting.

That was the beginning of what would eventually become the Explore the Faith website.

Back in 2009, my hopes for the website seemed way beyond my ability.

I had three loosely-defined dreams:

  1. Learn how to make a website
  2. Publish hundreds of papers from my archives.
  3. Publish my own chapter-by-chapter commentary on the entire Bible, both Protestant and Catholic.

All told, I expected my do-list to be a total of something like 2,000 pages.

NOW

Now it is a dozen years later.

Regarding the first goal, by God’s grace, I have indeed been able to learn some things about making websites.

Regarding the second goal, by God’s grace, I have indeed published those hundreds of papers from my archives.

Regarding the third goal, by God’s grace, I have indeed published my own chapter-by-chapter commentary on the entire Bible, both Protestant and Catholic.

In a dozen years I have published 2,000 pages. That’s more than most enterprise websites.

Those pages cover more than 220 topics.

WE’VE HARDLY BEGUN!

Recently I looked into my archives.

I was very surprised to discover they have grown. As of this writing, I have 6,500 more articles in my archives.

How did that happen?

Whenever something interesting about the faith comes to my awareness, if I have time, I write a note.

I add as many details as time permits. That is the beginning of an article.

In a dozen years, I guess I’ve done that a lot.

LIGHTS ARE MEANT TO SHINE

For me those 6,500 ideas are like 6,500 lights.

Right now they are buried in my archives, like lights that are buried under a bushel basket.

Just as a light is meant to shine so all can see, those articles are meant to shine. I want to publish them so they can shine for other people.

HOW LONG?

I published the first 2,000 pages in a dozen years. That’s equivalent to 167 pages per year. Or two days per page.

At that former pace of roughly two days per page, God-willing, to publish those 6,500 articles will take me another 35 years!

So after a dozen years and 2,000 pages, we’ve hardly gotten started!
