Discern your Gift by trying it out

The Bible describes 20 Gifts of the Holy Spirit. We explored them in previous articles. Do any of those 20 resonate with you?

 

 

If so, what do you do? We invite you to act like a scientist, and perform an experiment. Find some way to try out the Ministry Gift that resonated with you. Get training if need be. Find somebody to do the ministry with you if it would help. But in any case, go try it out.

However the experiment goes, it will be a success. If it has unfavorable results, then you know, by firsthand experimentation, that is probably not your Ministry Gift. But if your experiment has favorable results, you have made a very substantial discovery.

What if none of those 20 resonate with you? Not to worry. Most spiritual masters believe that there are more than the 20 mentioned in the Bible. The 20 are the best starting point, as they are stated in the Bible. But if you do not have any of those, doubtless you have some other sort of Ministry Gift. We invite you to explore what that might be.

Every Christian believer has at least one Ministry Gift. Some people have more than one.

Whatever you gift is, it is precious and remarkable.

There are different gifts, different ministries and different results. Not one is superior to any other. They are all necessary for the healthy functioning of the local assembly.

They work together like the many instruments in a symphony orchestra, so that our lives will combine and make a beautiful hymn of praise to God.

Whatever you do, don’t neglect your gift. (see 1 Timothy 4:14)

Rather, fan it into flame! (2 Timothy 1:6)
