Preachers who accept bribes

| | | | | |

Some faith-leaders do not teach the truth from the LORD God. Instead, they teach whatever people pay them to say. They are false prophets.

People love it when their faith-leaders say whatever they want to hear. They prefer these false prophets and errant priests.

By not having to listen to the actual word of the Most High God, they feel more comfortable with being lukewarm. And they don’t have to obey God’s will.

There were false prophets in the Old Testament era. They masqueraded as true prophets

And there are false prophets in the New Testament era. They masquerade as true leaders of the Christian movement.

It is so easy for church leaders to succumb to greed for money. And with their position of great power and influence, it is easy:

Step 1. They pander to the richest members of their congregation.

Step 2. They slant their sermons to favor the opinions of their richest members.

Step 3. They favor the ministry programs to those favored by the richest members.

When ministers do this, they receive astonishingly generous gifts. And in the process, they lost their sincerity.

They have become “owned,” just like how a politician is “owned” by major donors.

Isaiah 30:10. They say to the seers, “Have no visions;” to the prophets, “Do not decry for us what is right;” speak flatteries to us, conjure up illusions!” (NAB translation)

Jeremiah 5:31. The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own authority; and my people love to have it so. What will you do in the end of it?

Jeremiah 6:13. Everyone, from the least important to the greatest, is greedy for money. Even the prophets and priests all tell lies. (NCV translation)

Jeremiah 7:4. Don’t trust in lying words, saying, ‘The LORD’s temple, the LORD’s temple, the LORD’s temple, are these.’

Micah 3:11. Her leaders judge for bribes, and her priests teach for a price, and her prophets of it tell fortunes for money; yet they lean on the LORD, and say, “Isn’t the LORD among us? No disaster will come on us.”

2 Timothy 4:3. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. (NIV translation)
