Rahab is a Hero of the Faith
Rahab was a Gentile woman and a sex worker. Thanks to her, the Hebrew people captured the city of Jericho. The Bible lauds her as a hero of the faith.
INTRODUCTION
Rahab was a Gentile woman who lived in Jericho.
She helped the Hebrew people capture the city of Jericho by hiding two men. They had been sent to scout out the city prior to their attack.
The New Testament lauds her as an example of a saint who lived by faith, as well as someone considered righteous for her works.
In Joshua 2:1, the Hebrew word for her occupation is אשה זונה (“ishah zonah”). That means “a prostitute woman”. Rahab was a sex worker.
