Say what is helpful for building others up according to their needs

Don’t waste your words. Say things that will minister to the people around you. But say those things according to the specific needs of each person.

 


 

Isaiah 40:2. Say kind words to the heart of Jerusalem, crying out to her that her time of trouble is ended, that her punishment is complete; that she has been rewarded by the Lord’s hand twice over for all her sins. (BBE translation)

Hosea 2:14. Therefore behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her.

Ezekiel 33:9. Nevertheless, if you warn the wicked of his way to turn from it, and he doesn’t turn from his way; he will die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your soul.

Ephesians 4:29. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (NIV translation)

1 Thessalonians 5:14. Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone. (NLT translation)

Jude 1:22. On some have compassion, making a distinction,

Jude 1:23. and some save, snatching them out of the fire with fear, hating even the clothing stained by the flesh.
