Sitting Still – a Haiku poem

I wrote this Haiku poem after an intense session of Contemplative Prayer.

Up since four-thirty

In the Cloud of Unknowing

Sojourn in the Dark

What is it I seek?

Deep interior silence

To love and be loved

Sit still like a rock

Be still and know I am God

Breathe in and breathe out

What’s lifted from me?

Wanting others’ approval

My own agendas

Pray without ceasing

Without words or images

Let God do the work

What is it I seek?

A peaceful and tranquil heart

And to know Jesus
