The LORD is a man of war
This anthropomorphic expression speaks of the LORD God being all about war. However, the Lord Jesus will be called the Prince of Peace.
INTRODUCTION
In Exodus chapter 15, Moses said:
The LORD is a man of war. The LORD is his name.
The first phrase in that verse is “The LORD is a man.”
That expression is anthropomorphic. It speaks of the LORD God as if he were a mere human.
The next phrase in that verse is “of war.”
That expression portrays the LORD God as being all about war.
However, in other parts of the Bible, we see God desires peace. In fact, the Lord Jesus will be called the Prince of Peace.
