Are you gifted for Mercy?

| |

Has the Holy Spirit given you the ministry gift of Mercy? It is to show compassion to people who are less fortunate.

IN THE BIBLE

Romans 12:6-8. Having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, if prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith; 7 or service, let us give ourselves to service; or he who teaches, to his teaching; 8 or he who exhorts, to his exhorting: he who gives, let him do it with generosity; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows MERCY, with cheerfulness.

mercy. The Greek word is ἐλεῶν (“eleōn”). It means to have pity, to show mercy.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

Those with the Gift of Mercy are marked by compassion and tenderness. They are especially effective at helping those who are less fortunate.

They extend mercy in a godly way. The Pharisees did “merciful” deeds but not to actually help anyone. Rather, they acted in order to feed their own egos.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Do you find yourself drawn to journey with people who are down-and-out? Do they feel you meet them at their level, as an equal? Do instances of injustice stand out to you like a neon sign? Would people say you are compassionate?

If so, you may well have this gift!

Now it is time to try it out »

NOTES

Sirach 44:10. But these were men of mercy, Whose righteous deeds have not been forgotten.
