Go. I will help you Speak and will Teach you what to Say
The LORD God had a mission for Moses. All Moses needed to do was to GO. After that, the LORD God would help him speak and teach him what to say.
INTRODUCTION
The LORD God sent Moses to Egypt to demand the release of the Israelites from slavery. However, Moses resisted, saying he could not speak eloquently.
Then Moses was told:
Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say. (NIV translation)
A chain of causality is implied in this verse:
- Moses must step out in faith and “go”
- Then the LORD God will make up for his shortcomings
The LORD God does not seem to make up for our shortcomings prior to our going. That way, whatever we do is done by faith.
In our day, we Christians are called to go evangelize the world. For that great calling, many of us feel timid and shy.
But God can make up for it. All we need to do is go. We can rely on God to help us speak and teach us what to say.
