In the Bible, Racists are the bad guys

A racist believes one particular race is superior to others. Some Christians tolerate and even celebrate racism. But the Bible forbids racism.

HISTORY

In the early centuries of the United States, many Christians owned slaves. And even more Christians endorsed the concept of slavery.

In 1845, the Northern Baptists split away from the Southern Baptists. Why? Because the Southern Baptists were fervent about justifying the owning of slaves.

In 1865, slavery was abolished by the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. See The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.

But after that, many Christians remained racists.

Nearly a century later, the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. said:

It is appalling that the most segregated hour of Christian America is eleven o’clock on Sunday morning.

Since then, Christian racism continues to this very day.

Many Christians have done very little to combat racism from within their own congregations, much less from their culture and nation.

BIBLICAL TOPICS

ALL humans are made in God’s image

White people do not have privileged status with the Most High God.

Genesis 1:26. God said, “Let’s make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
