My Dietary Experiment in England
While I was living in England, I tried the diet of Mohandas K. Gandhi. I lived on fruit and nuts for a month.
Back in Japan, I had watched a movie about the life of Mohandas K. Gandhi. Then in India, I read his autobiography.
One aspect of his life really stood out to me. It was his dietary experiments. Specifically, that he lived as a fruitarian for six years.
For six years he lived solely on fruit and nuts.
While living in Birmingham in England, I decided it was time to try it myself.
I lived on a variety of fruits, and a variety of nuts.
Within a day or two, the diet triggered digestive troubles. They were constant.
No matter which fruits I ate, and no matter which nuts I ate, the digestive troubles continued.
I wondered if those digestive troubles were temporary and due to the change in diet. If so, the troubles would gradually stop.
However, in the ensuing weeks, the digestive troubles did not stop. I lost a lot of health. My wellness plummeted.
After a month, I stopped the experiment.
The fruitarian diet worked quite well for Gandhi. But not for me.
CAUTION
Fasting and dietary experimentation are only for those who are medically capable. Experts say you need to be under the supervision of a doctor during such times. Check with your health care provider.
