Let your light shine!

In ancient days, a candle burned in the Tent of Meeting. But in our day, the light is to shine from within us. How can you let your light shine?

 


 

Leviticus 24:2. “Command the children of Israel, that they bring to you pure olive oil beaten for the light, to cause a lamp to burn continually.

Numbers 8:2. “Speak to Aaron, and tell him, ‘When you light the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light in front of the lamp stand.’ ”

2 Chronicles 21:7. However the LORD would not destroy David’s house, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a lamp to him and to his children always.

Proverbs 13:9. The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.

Isaiah 49:6. Indeed, he says, “It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel. I will also give you as a light to the nations, that you may be my salvation to the end of the earth.”

Isaiah 60:1. Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the LORD’s glory has risen on you.

2 Maccabees 1:20. Many years later, when it so pleased God, Nehemiah, commissioned by the king of Persia, sent the descendants of the priests who had hidden the fire to look for it. (NAB translation)

 

Matthew 5:15. Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.

Matthew 5:16. Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 6:2. Therefore when you do merciful deeds, don’t sound a trumpet before yourself, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may get glory from men. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward.

Matthew 25:4. but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

Mark 4:21. He said to them, “Is the lamp brought to be put under a basket or under a bed? Isn’t it put on a stand?

Luke 8:16. “No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a container, or puts it under a bed; but puts it on a stand, that those who enter in may see the light.

Luke 11:35. Therefore see whether the light that is in you isn’t darkness.

John 3:20. For everyone who does evil hates the light, and doesn’t come to the light, lest his works would be exposed.

1 Thessalonians 1:7. so that you became an example to all who believe in Macedonia and in Achaia.

Be a light to the entire world. If we believe our mission in life is to touch just a few souls here and there, then our vision is way too small. Thatʼs not enough. The LORD God would make of us a light to the entire world!
