In the Old Testament era, some people said if you are holy, God will make you rich. In our day, this view is growing in popularity among professing Christians.
In other words, if you walk with God, you will get rich. Righteous living results in material prosperity.
And if you are poor, it means you are a sinner.
But this view is not consistent with a New Testament worldview.

Proverbs 3:16. Length of days is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor.
Proverbs 8:18. With me are riches, honor, enduring wealth, and prosperity.
Proverbs 8:21. that I may give wealth to those who love me. I fill their treasuries.
Proverbs 13:23. An abundance of food is in poor people’s fields, but injustice sweeps it away.
Proverbs 14:24. The crown of the wise is their riches, but the folly of fools crowns them with folly.
Proverbs 15:6. In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but the income of the wicked brings trouble.
Proverbs 22:4. The result of humility and the fear of the LORD is wealth, honor, and life.
