Isaiah chapter 43

Israel should not fear. Israel will be God’s witnesses to the world. God will bring them back from Babylon in a second Exodus.

ISRAEL SHOULD NOT FEAR

VERSE 1. But now the LORD who created you, Jacob, and he who formed you, Israel, says: “Don’t be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine.

NIV translation. But now, this is what the LORD says – he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”

This verse is fantastic! Would you consider memorizing it? More great verses to memorize from the Book of Isaiah and from the entire Bible.

VERSE 2. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.

These are beautiful promises!

VERSE 3. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I have given Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place.

VERSE 4. Since you have been precious and honored in my sight, and I have loved you, therefore I will give people in your place, and nations instead of your life.

NIV translation. Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give men in exchange for you, and people in exchange for your life.

This verse is fantastic! Would you consider memorizing it? More great verses to memorize from the Book of Isaiah and from the entire Bible.

As we grow in our relationship with the LORD God, he will gradually entrust people to us for training in discipleship.

This is something he does out of love for us, not because we have earned it.

VERSE 5. Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. I will bring your offspring from the east, and gather you from the west.

NLT translation. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will gather you and your children from east and west.

The LORD God’s people have been scattered all over the earth. But now, he regathers them

John Michael Talbot nicknamed this wondrous event The Regathering.

VERSE 6. I will tell the north, ‘Give them up!’ and tell the south, ‘Don’t hold them back! Bring my sons from far away, and my daughters from the ends of the earth—

VERSE 7. everyone who is called by my name, and whom I have created for my glory, whom I have formed, yes, whom I have made.’ ”

everyone who is called by my name. At this point in history, the entire planet will have been evangelized.

There will be countless billions of people with a saving faith in the LORD God.

That will require a massive and powerful evangelization, something far beyond what we Christians have done thus far.

We imagine this will be achieved in the End Times. We are aware of two possibilities:

Possibility 1. The 144,000 Jewish evangelists. They are mentioned in Revelation 7 and in Revelation 14.

Possibility 2. The Two Witnesses. They are mentioned in Revelation 12.

ISRAEL WILL BE GOD’S WITNESS TO THE WORLD

VERSE 8. Bring out the blind people who have eyes, and the deaf who have ears.

VERSE 9. Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the peoples be assembled. Who among them can declare this, and show us former things? Let them bring their witnesses, that they may be justified, or let them hear, and say, “That is true.”

Let all the nations be gathered. All people of the world will behold this supermassive evangelism and regathering.

VERSE 10. “You are my witnesses,” says the LORD, “With my servant whom I have chosen; that you may know and believe me, and understand that I am he. Before me there was no God formed, neither will there be after me.

there was no God formed. The LORD is one. He is God alone. He is the one God and Father of all. Beside him there is no other God. There is none like him. Read more »

VERSE 11. I myself am the LORD. Besides me, there is no savior.

Besides me, there is no savior. The LORD is one. He is God alone. He is the one God and Father of all. Beside him there is no other God. There is none like him. Read more »

VERSE 12. I have declared, I have saved, and I have shown, and there was no strange god among you. Therefore you are my witnesses”, says the LORD, “and I am God.

you are my witnesses. Are you a witness of the Most High God? Do you tell people about him?

Do you exercise the Ministry of Evangelism?

GOD WILL BRING THEM BACK FROM BABYLON IN A SECOND EXODUS

VERSE 13. Yes, since the day was, I am he. There is no one who can deliver out of my hand. I will work, and who can hinder it?”

NLT translation. From eternity to eternity I am God. No one can snatch anyone out of my hand. No one can undo what I have done.

John 10:28. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. (NIV translation)

VERSE 14. The LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says: “For your sake, I have sent to Babylon, and I will bring all of them down as fugitives, even the Kasdim, in the ships of their rejoicing.

VERSE 15. I am the LORD, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.”

I am … your King. The LORD God alone will be our ruler.

VERSE 16. The LORD, who makes a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters,

VERSE 17. who brings out the chariot and horse, the army and the mighty man (they lie down together, they shall not rise; they are extinct, they are quenched like a wick) says:

VERSE 18. “Don’t remember the former things, and don’t consider the things of old.

NAB translation. Remember not the events of the past, the things of long ago consider not.

This verse is fantastic! Would you consider memorizing it? More great verses to memorize from the Book of Isaiah and from the entire Bible.

Remember not the events of the past. Many people are trapped in the past. Right now in the present, they re-experience old memories. They can hardly live in the present.

If at all possible, we are to let go of the past. Instead, we are to live in the present.

By living in the present, weʼre open and ready for whatever the LORD God wants to do in our lives.

He is always ready to do a new thing:

VERSE 19. Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don’t you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

NAB translation. See, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? In the desert I make a way, in the wasteland, rivers.

This verse is fantastic! Would you consider memorizing it? More great verses to memorize from the Book of Isaiah and from the entire Bible.

See, I am doing something new. The LORD God is doing something new in our lives.

do you not perceive it. We need to find a way to perceive what the LORD God is doing in our lives.

VERSE 20. The animals of the field, the jackals and the ostriches, shall honor me, because I give water in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen,

VERSE 21. the people which I formed for myself, that they might declare my praise.

1 Peter 2:9. But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

VERSE 22. Yet you have not called on me, Jacob; but you have been weary of me, Israel.

VERSE 23. You have not brought me any of your sheep for burnt offerings, neither have you honored me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with offerings, nor wearied you with frankincense.

VERSE 24. You have bought me no sweet cane with money, nor have you filled me with the fat of your sacrifices, but you have burdened me with your sins. You have wearied me with your iniquities.

VERSE 25. I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake; and I will not remember your sins.

BBE translation. I, even I, am he who takes away your sins; and I will no longer keep your evil doings in mind.

he who takes away your sins. Some Christians imagine that during the Old Testament era, righteousness was could only be earned.

They imagine that faith and grace had no part in it. However, this verse shows the forgiveness of sins was a gift from the LORD God.

VERSE 26. Put me in remembrance. Let us plead together. Declare your case, that you may be justified.

NLT translation. Let us review the situation together, and you can present your case to prove your innocence.

This is very much like what the LORD God said to Job.

VERSE 27. Your first father sinned, and your teachers have transgressed against me.

Your first father. That is, Adam.

Or possibly Jacob.

VERSE 28. Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary; and I will make Jacob a curse, and Israel an insult.”

NLT translation. That is why I have disgraced your priests; I have decreed complete destruction for Jacob and shame for Israel.

I have disgraced your priests. In our day, Catholic priests have been disgraced. They brought the disgrace upon themselves by sexually abusing children, and by conspiring to cover it up.
