Isaiah chapter 59

Israel is separated from the LORD God due to sin. Only the LORD God can save Israel.

ISRAEL IS SEPARATED FROM THE LORD GOD DUE TO SIN

VERSE 1. Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it can’t save; nor his ear dull, that it can’t hear.

VERSE 2. But your iniquities have separated you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

BBE translation. But your sins have come between you and your God, and by your evil doings his face has been veiled from you, so that he will give you no answer.

This verse is fantastic! Would you consider memorizing it? More great verses to memorize from the Book of Isaiah and from the entire Bible.

NLT translation. It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.

your sins have come between you and your God. This may be the first instance where the result of sin is not “punishment.”

Rather, the result of sin is now separation from the LORD God.

When we sin, we turn away from God. We cut ourselves off from him. This is why we need the Savior.

That is why people need us to exercise the Ministry of Evangelism and tell them about the Lord Jesus Christ.

To sin is to violate God’s will for us. It harms our relationship with God. We all have missed the mark and sinned. Here are the verses we’ve found »

VERSE 3. For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity. Your lips have spoken lies. Your tongue mutters wickedness.

VERSE 4. No one sues in righteousness, and no one pleads in truth. They trust in vanity, and speak lies. They conceive mischief, and give birth to iniquity.

VERSE 5. They hatch adders’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web. He who eats of their eggs dies; and that which is crushed breaks out into a viper.

NLT translation. They hatch deadly snakes and weave spiders’ webs. Whoever falls into their webs will die, and there’s danger even in getting near them.

danger even in getting near them. To talk to certain people is like kicking a beehive. It never goes well.

VERSE 6. Their webs won’t become garments. They won’t cover themselves with their works. Their works are works of iniquity, and acts of violence are in their hands.

Their webs won’t become garments. Some people’s lives are twisted. They have become so corrupt that they cannot produce positive things.

The only thing they can produce is negativity.

VERSE 7. Their feet run to evil, and they hurry to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity. Desolation and destruction are in their paths.

VERSE 8. They don’t know the way of peace; and there is no justice in their ways. They have made crooked paths for themselves; whoever goes in them doesn’t know peace.

VERSE 9. Therefore justice is far from us, and righteousness doesn’t overtake us. We look for light, but see darkness; for brightness, but we walk in obscurity.

VERSE 10. We grope for the wall like the blind. Yes, we grope as those who have no eyes. We stumble at noon as if it were twilight. Among those who are strong, we are like dead men.

VERSE 11. We all roar like bears and moan bitterly like doves. We look for justice, but there is none, for salvation, but it is far off from us.

We look for justice, but there is none. This is really sad.

Yet it is the experience of many people. They do not get the justice they deserve.

for salvation, but it is far off from us. This is also really sad. Yet it is also the experience of many people.

They do not get the rescue they deserve.

VERSE 12. For our transgressions are multiplied before you, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and as for our iniquities, we know them:

VERSE 13. transgressing and denying the LORD, and turning away from following our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.

VERSE 14. Justice is turned away backward, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has fallen in the street, and uprightness can’t enter.

uprightness can’t enter. Powerful people ban anything that threatens their own power.

Honesty is one of those things. It is as if honesty has been outlawed. Eveyone has to accept a lie.

VERSE 15a. Yes, truth is lacking; and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey.

ONLY THE LORD GOD CAN SAVE ISRAEL

VERSE 15b. The LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice.

VERSE 16. He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor. Therefore his own arm brought salvation to him; and his righteousness sustained him.

NLT translation. He was amazed to see that no one intervened to help the oppressed. So he himself stepped in to save them with his strong arm, and his justice sustained him.

VERSE 17. He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head. He put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a mantle.

Isaiah 11:4-5. but with righteousness he will judge the poor, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked. 5 Righteousness will be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his waist.

Ephesians 6:14-17. Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace, 16 above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

1 Thessalonians 5:8. But since we belong to the day, let’s be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

VERSE 18. According to their deeds, he will repay as appropriate, wrath to his adversaries, recompense to his enemies; he will repay the islands their due.

VERSE 19. So they will fear the LORD’s name from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun; for he will come as a rushing stream, which the LORD’s breath drives.

from the west … from the rising of the sun. The Old Testament foresees Gentiles coming to faith in the One God of Israel and bringing gifts to Jerusalem. Here are the key Bible verses about this »

VERSE 20. “A Redeemer will come to Zion, and to those who turn from disobedience in Jacob,” says the LORD.

VERSE 21. “As for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the LORD. “My Spirit who is on you, and my words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart out of your mouth, nor out of the mouth of your offspring, nor out of the mouth of your offspring’s offspring,” says the LORD, “from now on and forever.”

NLT translation. “And this is my covenant with them,” says the LORD. “My Spirit will not leave them, and neither will these words I have given you. They will be on your lips and on the lips of your children and your children’s children forever. I, the LORD, have spoken!

My Spirit who is on you. Even in the Old Testament era, people understood that the Spirit of the LORD God could be upon people.

my words. The Bible will always be a key part of the lives of God’s people.
