Psalm 15

Who may draw near to God and worship?

 


 

WHO MAY DRAW NEAR TO GOD AND WORSHIP?

A Psalm by David

 

NOTE. This chapter is very much like Isaiah 33:15.

 

VERSE 1. LORD, who shall dwell in your sanctuary? Who shall live on your holy hill?

dwell. That is, “sojourn.”

live on. That is, “pitch their tent on.”

This is a spiritual question. Who can draw near to God and worship in his dwelling place?

holy hill. That is, Zion, the City of David.

Psalm 2:6. Yet I have set my King on my holy hill of Zion.

 

VERSE 2. He who walks blamelessly and does what is right, and speaks truth in his heart;

walks. The metaphor of a “walk” is used throughout the Bible for our pattern of life and behavior.

blamelessly. The Hebrew word is ttameem. It means complete, sincere, or perfect.

Isaiah 33:15. He who walks righteously and speaks blamelessly, he who despises the gain of oppressions, who gestures with his hands, refusing to take a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from looking at evil—

 

VERSE 3. he who doesn’t slander with his tongue, nor does evil to his friend, nor casts slurs against his fellow man;

VERSE 4. in whose eyes a vile man is despised, but who honors those who fear the LORD; he who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and doesn’t change;

VERSE 5. he who doesn’t lend out his money for usury, nor take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be shaken.
