Psalm 70

David’s enemies are hunting him down with intent to kill. David needs the LORD to rescue him, and quickly!

VERSE 1. Hurry, God, to deliver me. Come quickly to help me, LORD.

Hurry … deliver me. David needs the LORD to rescue him, and quickly!


VERSE 2. Let them be disappointed and confounded who seek my soul. Let those who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.

who seek my soul. David’s enemies were trying to kill him.

those who desire my ruin. David’s enemies took delight in causing him trouble.


VERSE 3. Let them be turned because of their shame Who say, “Aha! Aha!”


VERSE 4. Let all those who seek you rejoice and be glad in you. Let those who love your salvation continually say, “Let God be exalted!”

NLT translation: But may all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness in you. May those who love your salvation repeatedly shout, “God is great!”

NASB translation: Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; And let those who love Your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified.”

all those who seek you. Are you a spiritual seeker? Do you seek more and more of the One God?

rejoice and be glad in you. Joy and gladness is the God-given heritage of those who seek the One God.


VERSE 5. But I am poor and needy. Come to me quickly, God. You are my help and my deliverer. LORD, don’t delay.
