Psalm 128

Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD.

 


 

BLESSED IS EVERYONE WHO FEARS THE LORD

A Song of Ascents.

NOTE: The term “A Song of Ascents” identifies psalms 120 to 134 as pilgrim songs to be sung when the Israelites “ascended” (went up) to Jerusalem for the annual feasts.

 

VERSE 1. Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in his ways.

Blessed. That is, joyful. When we walk with the LORD God, we will be marked with joy.

everyone. The blessings of the LORD God are not restricted to only a few. Rather, they are available to everyone.

 

VERSE 2. For you will eat the labor of your hands. You will be happy, and it will be well with you.

eat the labor of your hands. The LORD God calls us to be productive.

 

VERSE 3. Your wife will be as a fruitful vine, in the innermost parts of your house; your children like olive plants, around your table.

 

VERSE 4. Behold, thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD.

 

VERSE 5. May the LORD bless you out of Zion, and may you see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life.

the good of Jerusalem. Zion and Jerusalem will be blessed. They will prosper for a lifetime.

 

VERSE 6. Yes, may you see your children’s children. Peace be upon Israel.
