The LORD is holy.

THE LORD IS HOLY

VERSE 1. The LORD reigns! Let the peoples tremble. He sits enthroned among the cherubim. Let the earth be moved.

The LORD reigns! This phrase is associated with theocracy.

enthroned among the cherubim. This alludes to the two cherubim perched on the lid of the Ark of the Covenant.

Psalm 80:1. Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock, you who sit above the cherubim, shine out.

VERSE 2. The LORD is great in Zion. He is high above all the peoples.

VERSE 3. Let them praise your great and awesome name. He is Holy!

He is Holy! This is one of the many unique attributes of the LORD God.

VERSE 4. The King’s strength also loves justice. You establish equity. You execute justice and righteousness in Jacob.

VERSE 5. Exalt the LORD our God. Worship at his footstool. He is Holy!

at his footstool. This might mean worship from within Jerusalem.

Or it might mean worship before the Tent of Meeting in Jerusalem.

VERSE 6. Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among those who call on his name. They called on the LORD, and he answered them.

he answered them. God hears and answers our prayers.

VERSE 8. You answered them, LORD our God. You are a God who forgave them, although you took vengeance for their doings.

You are a God who forgave them. When they look at the Old Testament, most people overlook the notion of the forgiveness of God.

It runs throughout the Old Testament.
